The rapid development of new energy technologies, especially photovoltaic power generation technology, is driving the global energy transformation. Photovoltaic panels consist of many photovoltaic cells or solar cells that directly convert light energy into electrical energy. Common photovoltaic cells include monocrystalline silicon cells, polycrystalline silicon cells, copper indium gallium selenide thin film cells, etc. These cells contain light-sensitive photovoltaic materials that can generate current when absorbing sunlight.  Photovoltaic modules or components encapsulate multiple photovoltaic cells together and fabricate circuits on them to output standard current and voltage. Common photovoltaic modules include polycrystalline silicon modules and thin film modules. Photovoltaic arrays connect multiple photovoltaic modules to form larger power generation devices.

Photovoltaic power generation systems include photovoltaic arrays, brackets, inverters, batteries and other equipment. It can realize the whole process of converting light energy into electrical energy and provide power to loads. The scale of these systems ranges from kilowatts to hundreds of megawatts, including small rooftop systems and large power plants. As a clean renewable energy power generation technology, photovoltaic technology can reduce dependence on mineral fuels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. At present, more than 50 countries in the world have practical photovoltaic power generation systems, and photovoltaic power generation will account for an increasing proportion of global energy supply in the future. however, we still need to continuously reduce the power generation cost of photovoltaic power plants, improve the reliability and efficiency of systems, optimize the performance of batteries and components, and develop more advanced thin film technologies and active materials.
